There are many places where you can
purchase a rebuilt HEUI injector, and almost just as many places
claiming that they rebuild them. Our experience has shown that
most of these injectors have simply been dis-assembled, cleaned and
then re-assembled.

A HEUI injector such as used in the
Ford Powerstroke engine is very complicated, and has extremely tight
tolerances. It is also very difficult to rebuild/remanufacture
this injector properly without the proper tooling and equipment.
On first inspection most would assume that this injector is simply
"non-adjustable" and its calibration depends on the sum total of
it's parts. Although this is true in some respects, there are
several places within this injector where improper assembly and/or
rebuilding methods can have negative effects. In many cases
the resulting variances in calibration are simply ignored by many
injector rebuilders.
A good example (although not the only
one) is the "Poppet Valve Travel vs Armature Clearance". As
this injector wears in the course of normal usage, the poppet valve
travel increases. As long as the additional poppet valve
travel does not exceed armature clearance this injector will
still work, and in some cases the engine will give no indication
that there is a potential problem. The moment the poppet valve
travel exceeds armature clearance the valve will leak, and
the injector will fail. Normally, this type of wear is
not evident until the injector is near the end of its
expected
service life ... unless .... the last person to rebuild this
injector did NOT return these tolerances to original specs. In
this case, this failure could happen a week after the injector was
rebuilt! When static tolerances are returned to original
dimensions, this problem will never be an issue.
Even if an injector does not fail due
to excessive poppet valve travel, this excessive travel will have an
effect on the injectors performance. If an injector is only
tested at full load and/or idle loads and speeds this problem will
not be evident during testing.
HEUI injectors remanufactured by us
are returned to original like new tolerances. Both the upper
and lower poppet valve seats are refinished, and all static
dimensions are returned to original specs. All seals and
springs
are replaced with new. Nozzles and plungers are either
remanufactured to "like new" tolerances or replaced with new.
Check valves are replaced or refinished and all sub-assemblies are
checked for leakage to insure they meet or exceed the original
specifications.
Each injector is calibrated using a
series of 7 different tests emulating all phases of engine
operation. Both low and high pressure circuits are tested for
leaks.
We provide our customers with an
injector that will perform and last just like a new one!
